Module II of the Shared Values Process

People are already responsible human beings - we do not make them responsible. Managers and systems often unintentionally prevent people from taking responsibility and utilizing their full potential.

Module Two is intended to establish an evolutionary path for managers and staff in the leadership roles they take on in the organization. Traditionally, Managers have acted as the corporate planners and "cops" of the workplace. Within the new values-based business context, their roles change - they become technical resources, teachers, mentors, and Wise Counsel™. Additionally, the employees of an organization have assumed a traditional role of "follow-the-leader." A values-based organization establishes a context for staff where they actively participate in decision-making roles and assume responsibility for their performance. This Module prepares both staff and management for this transfer of responsibility and "authority." The learning method used for this transformation is a case study, "task force" approach.

Employees and Managers Learn the Dynamics of a Truly Collaborative Work Environment

The purpose of Module II is to give the front-line employees the opportunity to have more control over their work environment and the success of the organization, and to allow managers the freedom to function more as a creative resource and mentor and less as a more traditional role of "cop/dictator."

In order to facilitate this shift, Responsibility Taking skills will be transferred to the employees as a whole so that they will be fully supported and have the tools necessary to solve the problems that effect their work productivity and satisfaction without constant input from a manager. Managers will then have the time for more long term "If only I had the time I could make such a difference" projects.
